Good to hear...
I would imagine it's not a very hard car to do some self maintanence on...oil changes, plug wires?
I like to do some maintanence now and then. Last dealer I took my current car to for a 30,000 charged me $70 for new plugs and hand tightened them . I drove the car to Houston the next day. After a 6 hour trip the car sounded like an old chevy truck, chugging away!!! Plugs were loose....#1 was about to pop out. I was happy i caught it and swore I would do my own plugs from now on.

This looks like a good car choice if I can swing it...probably a used 2006 for me!!!

Wow!!!
That's a great link...thanks. I like that a lot of the repairs have great pictures. Makes it all the easier to figure out.

The "official fix" was a wooden club that I kept in back of the seat to whack the alternator with (worked every time)...
Lotus (Loads Of Trouble Usually Serious) must admit they probably are fine nowadays but remember hearing all the problems people had with them when I was in my teens and has put me off ever owning one.

Yeah I almost bought a TR3, I think it was.....years ago. Then someone explained the fun of the Lucas electrical system. Never experienced it myself but it has scared me from a lot of cars that I liked. I felt the same about the Lotus....always dreamed of a Esprit but can't help but worry about the problems. Can't afford it anyway but it's fun to dream.

I owned a TR 4 and a TR 6. I always wanted a bumper sticker that said "Lucas, the Prince of Darkness" for them.

The joke use to be "Why do the British drink warm beer? Because Lucas makes all of their refrigerators".
