Service E

What do they do in a service E, and what is the cost?

My understanding, it's replacement of the cabin air filter. Cost is about $175. I took my SLK 55 in for Service E, and oil and filter change. Due to mileage, it wasn't due Service A. I stated it needed Service E, cabin air filter change, MB service replaced the engine air filter. Personally, I think the cabin air filter is a scam. No way they can justify such a high replacement cost.

You could probably remove the filter, blow it out in reverse with compressed air and reuse it without adverse effects. I also think a cabin air filter is a scam especially on a roadster.

You'd be surprised how dirty they get. Almost like the engine air filter.

I just bought a 2006 CLS500 and the Service E indicator came on during my drive home. The oil change should be no problem. Nice to know the other issue is the air filter and the cabin air filter.

I have already done the filters in my wife's CLK320......no issues.

Sounds like another way for MB to steal money from us.
