Autoweek today had some good SLK stuff for the US audiance on the website:
"The SLK350's 3.5-liter V6 gets an overhaul that includes a higher compression ratio, modified valve train, redesigned inlet manifold and a higher, 7200-rpm redline. The result is a 32-hp jump in power to 300 hp and a slight torque increase to 265 lb-ft. Power figures for the base SLK300 (3.0-liter, 228-hp V6) and high-performance SLK55 AMG (5.5-liter, 355-hp V8) remain the same."

Thanks for sharing the link. Must have missed it in the latest issue. Most of the changes are minor tweaks, which is good IMHO. Personally, I like most of them; the "split lip," however, is going to take a little getting used to. At least they didn't go the route of the new Audis; I still have a hard time looking at the front end of those cars. I think that this evolutionary level of changes indicates that, overall, MB feels it has a pretty solid design with the 171. What it also means is that those of us who have earlier versions won't feel like our cars are seriously "outdated." For that, I'm grateful.

I agree here.... Overall I think they have done sufficient work to suggest that this design will stay around for a while yet which is great news for us. It would hardly have been worth the work if they were to bring a brand new version in 18 months.
As far as the details of the current facelift, I think that the lower lip looks striking on the white car shown, but will be virtually unnoticable on darker coloured cars. Do not like the new exhaust though, looks far more modest that the current tips. And those wing mirrors are NOT pretty!
The split lip looks awful - it simply does not work - it looks like it's been kerbed and a bit has broken off. The AMG front spoiler is far more sucessful.

I'm seriously considering replacing my '06 280 with the new model 350 in white with the new 'gullwing' red interior when it becomes available.
I thing the front lower part look like some kind of towing bar. No more sweeping lines like the present model. White is not a SLK colour for me. Silverpaint is expressing the lines in sunshine and this car is a "sparkling star" in sunshine. Black is also expressing the lines, but it get dirty too fast.
White is like plastic all over.
