How Big is Your Boot/Trunk ?

Hi All.

I'm looking to change my R170 for an R171 next year, hopefully a 350
One minor question, how big is the Trunk/Boot on the R171 ?

I know its 300 litres roof up or 208 litres roof down from the brochure.
But can someone kindly tell me the dimensions (width, length, depth) please ?

Many Thanks,
Kim.

Hmmm. Kind of a personal question, but my brochure for the 350 says the capacity is 277 liters up and 185 liters down. If the capacity you're quoting is for the 170, it appears that the overall capacity is reduced in the 171. As you probably know, the trunk has a lot of odd nooks and crannies, so it's hard to get a true measure of its size by W x L x H.

Just curious. Would a reduced trunk size be the sole reason for not purchasing a 171?

It looks small but with the right packing techniques you can get a lot in there, at least a week worth in such a small car.

Photo's came from SLK55er, Easty, Markr171, Maverick, and Duo-art, so you guys can thank them.

Sorry to get personal NewMB

I'm pretty much sold on an R171. So Trunk/Boot size isn't the deciding factor.

I just want to know if I can fit a folding bike in there (before I buy the bike.)

So if anyone can run a tape measure over their boot I would appreciate it.

Thanks for the photos Ynot. Its amazing what you can fit into an SLK if you try.

Okay, here are some rough figures. The rectangular area (where I have my plastic trunk liner) in the trunk is 38" wide x 22" deep. If you use the shelf area to the sides, the width is 46". With the lid down, the height is 14 1/2". With the lid up, the height is 19 1/2". Hope this helps.

If all fails, wimbletonSLK has another solution.
