What's the best alloy wheel cleaner?

I have the 16 spoke alloy wheels and it takes me as long to clean the wheels as clean the rest of the car?

Anyone know of any really good products or have any good tips?

I have the same problem. I was looking at getting ceramic brake pads, but I can't find any for the front brakes. I tried waxing the wheels, but that was also a pain and only worked for a couple months. The brake dust build up is amazing on the front wheels of the AMG.

i have the 10 spoke wheel and i am a little anal as i clean the wheels with paper towels and spit at 6 am and again when i get home at 430 pm. so the dirt/brake dust does not get a chance to hang around long. it takes me 3 minutes per wheel. the flat areas by the air stems first, then a swipe around the rim, then the loop around each spoke then the little indentations in each spoke facing out and finally the center mb cover. i told you i was anal!

I know a bunch of forum members are going to chime in with "Zaino," so I thought I would be the first. LOL. I've got the 10-spoke OEM wheels and coat them with Z2. As long as I wash my car once a week, the brake dust doesn't have a chance to really accumulate. With Zaino, the brake dust simply sluffs off without much effort. I suspect that if you coated the wheels with any other type of wheel wax, you'd probably get similar results.

I have the OEM 10 spokes wheels too.
my goal is to upgrade to the 5 spokes AMG style rims, I hope it will take less time to clean.
Can air compressor help to blow off the brake dust?

I don't believe there's any substitute for good old soap and water when cleaning wheels. Brake dust is nasty and inevitable. There are some wheels I would not have due to the amount of time required to keep clean. First mod for me was a set of AMG 18" five spoke wheels. They're so easy to clean, but they also get dirty fast. High pressure washing will remove most brake dust, but the wheels will still be dirty. Again, good old soap and water and elbow action will get the job done.

I was going to use the 5-spoke vs. the 10-spoke as a reason to upgrade my wheels. (Do you think my wife will bite with that reasoning? LOL.) The 5-spoke wheels that I prefer are the split variety, so in essence, I'll still have the same amount of spoke area to clean. (But don't tell her that.)

What do you mean? Of course 5 split spoke are easier to clean than our ten spokers. And if they're forged, they're even easier. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
