Run Flat Indicator & Non-Run Flat Tires

My 2005 SLK350 is equipped with run flat tires and a run flat indicator.

I plan to purchase non-run flat snow tires & new wheels.

Do sensors attach to the wheels & measure direct tire pressure (I don't think so), or does the indicator work in conjunction with the ESP?

Will the run flat indicator work (probably don't need it) with non-run flat tires, and can it be damaged if the car has non-run flat tires?

It does indeed work on ESP and the actual Tyres or wheel size makes no difference. It works by detecting that one wheel is moving at a different speed. When the system activates you have to reset the pressures and then 'reset it' this is in effect so the system can recalibrate itself. In your case you would need to reset it after fitting the new set of wheels.
