I just ordered a vanity plate for my car today with my initials. Anyone else have one? I guess I am feeling a bit vain...ha ha. It's not as common in the Northeast as it is on the West coast.
Oh my yes, you'll find LOTS of people here with personalized plates. I don't recall how many are the person's initials. In California that can be extremely difficult to get. So in my case I tend to just use the car's name. In my case, that's TROLLUP. See http://www.billsden.org/mercedes/slk/mine/name/. As for the front plate, I simply went without. I prefer the cleaner look to the nose. But alternate mountings where the bracket aren't used are more visually appealing, too.
Personalized plates. I love them. My wife and I have four vehicles and four personalized plates. I also prefer initials. I think they look so classy. I read somewhere that Virginia has the second highest number of personalized plates in the nation. Second only to, I don't know. On average, they're $10 extra per year, and some plates (about 180 choices) have additional fees. Ten bucks, what a bargain. Our SLK has a two initial plate (extremely rare). My wife's and my two initials are the same, perfect. It took me thirteen years of checking to get that plate. I also have my three initials on one vehicle (eight years to acquire) and my wife's three initials on another car (one year to acquire). Some personalized plates are so cleaver, and some, not so cleaver. To each their own, I love personalized plated. Dinoman has three or four two initial plates. He's the KING.

I have five two-letter plates, one with my two initials, one with the two initials reversed, one with my first initial preceded by Y, YD on one Dino, and UR (my alma mater) on the other Dino. My mother's E 320 bears my former plate, with X, followed by my first initial. It adds a distinctive touch to an automobile, I think. Dinoman. p.s. Thanks for the kind words, 1! d
