Nope. The portion of the module under the snap-out cover is completely empty (save for the BT pairing code label). The MHI module doesn't support SAP and therefore has no need of a SIM card slot.
The module IS black, silver, and chrome; as far as I know there is no choice of colours. Like I said in my original post, and as shown on the pictures, the module does have a SIM card slot and can therefore be used as an independent phone. However, the SIM card slot cannot be used in combination with the bluetooth functionality and the bluetooth radio is turned off when there is a SIM card inside the slot. Hope this helps...

Ah, hadn't thought of that but it does make sense. Thanks for clarifying.
I got my hands on the European Bluetooth module for UHI telephone pre-wiring (option 386), with Sim Access Profile (MB Part number B6 787 5840). The actual module looks amazing an has a slot for a SIM card so it can be used as an independent car phone. Installation and pairing went without a hitch and took about 10 minutes. I have already tried it a few times and so far it works brilliantly. The only disadvantage I have seen so far is that it has to download the phonebook everytime it pairs with the phone, and this can sometimes take a bit too long. I will post pictures soon
Hey that looks cool.....
I wish other manufactures made their buletooth module as nice looking as MB…..then you don’t really mind paying hundreds of £ for something that looks amazing as this module.
I have just one question…..was it just as easy as plugging it in to the cradle or do you need MB technicians to code it as well????
so basically the "MHI" and "UHI" are 2 different kinds module??
Correct.

My understanding is that all of N.A. uses MHI. Best thing to do is contact a dealer -- unlesss someone here in Canada can confirm -- and ask who to contact to order a compatible module. In the U.S., it is AWS (www.wireless4mb.com), but I'm not sure whether they also supply modules for Canada.

Correct. The MHI module is only capable of operating as a headset, and (for compatible phones) enables the transfer of phone book data to COMAND.

The part that gets coded is the handsfree kit. Once you are pluggin in a phone cradle or the BT module, no further coding is necessary. It is user-installable.
