Paddles on new models, can they be retrofited to exising models in place of the buttons?

Does anyone know if you can buy and if the Paddles on new models, can be retrofited to exising models in place of the buttons?

I find the buttons harder to use and ferrari's that i have driven with teh paddles seem much better

That's a great question. I hope it can be easily retrofitted.

If not, let me be the first to say I would gladly swap steering wheels with any '07 owner. I know there is a few '06 owners that dislike the buttons as of now. Therefore, there will probably be some '07 owners that dislike the paddles.

So, if you are an '07 owner and dislike the paddles, please PM me!

Dan

My car has to go in for a service within a week or teo so i will ask them then but usually they do not know anything (they probably don't even know they are going to fit paddles to the cars)

The new SL model has better looking paddles. I think I'll ask my dealer if I can have those instead and retrofit them to the SLK. The buttons on the SL and SLK are the same size, so I believe the paddles can be fitted as well.

Just for general knowledge the 2005 systems are not backwards compatible with 2003. Someone with a 2003 E55 for example may find that the new paddles are not operable.

I was thinking of just the paddle bit... if the interior of the steering wheel is able to house the paddle itself if the fixation point is the same shape and size, then perhaps there is a way to hook it all up.

I dunno... I'll see. I just hope it's possible to get the paddles without getting a whole steering wheel.

If it's possible, I bet you have to buy a whole steering wheel...

I'm getting one of the new '07's. I made them put it down on the sheet and everything so I could take it back if it wasn't the right one

Would have liked to see them first though...

Hmmmm, I must be one of the only owners that really likes the discreet positioning of the current buttons.
The paddles look like tacked on elephant ears to me.
