I agree, I have switchs on mine, but I hate the paddles. Wouldn't be half as bad if they were attached to a gearbox that changed gear when you asked it to rather than half a second or more later. Just leave it in S and drive. Kicking down to overtake is about the only time I have used the switches on my car.
the dealer should have part numbers for the paddles alone. They are less than 400 for the pair if I remember correctly.

Just came back from the dealer and they do now have the part number listed for the paddles. Part number is 171-267-00-46. They are only $150 CDN for the set. Anyone have instructions on how to install them on an 06 SLK 55?
You can also order an 07 steering wheel with the paddle shifters mounted from the factory for $1100 CDN.

Were they the standard paddles or the AMG ones? Don't seem very expensive if they're the AMG ones because from what I recall, AMG's price list had them at a very high price...

This is really cheap man, I am going to ask the dealer ASAP
Shinigami - Glad to see the Brabus antenna in your line-up. I've got a 55 on order for collection in June this year (07). I keep reading varying reports about the after-market aerial. Does it work as good as the OEM, where did you get yours and price please?

They were AMG paddles. The parts guy found the part number by looking up the exploded view of the steering column for the SLK 55 AMG.

I think you're mistaking me for someone else... My old car was Brabus modified, but I've since then sold it. I don't have a Brabus antenna on my 55.

mischief is right. I checked with my dealer in US and price is $105 plus tax. That part number comes with left and right as a set. Is there anyone knows how to open steering wheel assembly?
