I am in the process of installing AMG Aluminum Shift paddle kit into my 06 AMG SLK.55
Bitch of a job. Not something you want to do at home. My Mercedes Dealer just laughed and wished me good luck.
I will be the last one laughing ..........although there are no instructions available we are half way home. Disconnect.Battery 10 Hrs Before startingwork ,disconnect and remove Air bag store face up and do not touch, the wires to be disconnected at this time are of different lenghts left and right do not mix up.disconnect RSR System. Remove steering wheel, you will find a plastic ring do NOT remove or shift .......tape to collum and leave. You can send the steering wheel to us and we will do the job for you and return it for installationif you so wish .We are now in the process of removel of old switch buttons and the the wheel will have to be cut and drilled for fitment of new parts just trying to figure this out on just how to go about it as we are an AMG shop and custom build we must be carefull not to screw up. That would not be acceptable.For the moment thats all I can tell you......installation will be time but do not know how long at this time. If you are interested on how its going you can reach me at wmb@turbosportique.com

$ 1.100.00 Can. plus duties. Installation $ 850.00.
If you have the 2007 Paddles they will not fit. They are shorter and the seating and mounting holes in the steering wheel are not compatible. It is not possible to modify this steering wheel .I have a set in stock 2007 as we are waiting for a set from Germany for a 2006 AMG CLK and found out real quick ........no go . The paddles mus tbe car and Year specific.
Does anyone know if you can buy and if the Paddles on new models, can be retrofited to exising models in place of the buttons?
I find the buttons harder to use and ferrari's that i have driven with teh paddles seem much better
Hi, My first post - I hope it helps...
Am collecting a new SLK 280 on March 1. It was delivered to the UK dealer a week or so back without paddles, although I specifically ordered the 7-G gearbox and specified paddles. It seems that it was a factory error. Initially I was told that paddles could not be retrofitted, but after realising that the only option that I would be satisfied with would be a re-order the dealer fitted a brand new steering wheel with paddles. They also updated the relevant software. So it seems that it is possible, but would not like to guess the cost of a new steering wheel if not covered by MB...
