There we go. When I fly out to CA to make up for my botched PCH drive, I'm taking that sucker for a week and beating it like a red-headed stepchild. Perfect.
The place I used in July for a long weekend -- just to be sure I really wanted this car while I was waiting -- was http://specialtyrentals.com/. I definitelydid not pay $300 a day for it either. I seem to recall it was closer to $180/day with a 100 mi/day limit. I enjoyed it so much, I went over and gladly paid a little extra for the pleasure. [;)]
While I was in Europe picking up my SLK I saw a poster for Hertz Prestige Collection, and they had a picture of the SLK. I guess they rent it too. I would imagine based on the rates for jaguars through Hertz that it would be $150-200 a day.
Hmm... Well, now that I own an SLK, I might consider it. But I think it would have to be a really special gift to myself. For example, a few years back I was planning a 40th birthday party for a good friend. Being a car person, I wanted to make just the right statement. Although a hearse would have been amusing -- and fit better with the theme of the overall event -- I happened upon a Rolls Royce built the same year as she was born, that someone had restored and offered for limousine service. It was just north of $2000, but well worth it IMO.
So... I might consider the Lambo... but I'd really have to have an urge to drive one. For now, I'm content to appreciate them from afar. [;)]

You offered a $2000 rental to a friend for her birthday?!?! Bill, would you like to be my friend? [:p]

I hear I've got some reveng... er, fun... coming my way in a couple of years. [}:)][:o)]
A couple of years? If I were you, I would sleep with one eye open on September 23rd... BTW, what does grey icing taste like? The tombstone cake reminded me of the armadillo cake in Steel Magnolias! I still think Suzanne is very fortunate to have you as a friend, though. [:)]

hahaha Well, I was referring to my 40th being a few years in the offing. It's only milestone birthdays that we treat as truly "special." [:o)]
The frosting was as hard and stone-like as it appears -- marzipan. But that was the idea... it was really intended to look like a tombstone. [:D] In the original planning, we were working on getting a hearse to pick her up and the wake was going to be held at an actual funeral parlor. [}:)][:o)][:D] A few more gentle souls got us to give up a few of our plans... but it was still a wonderful time. [:D]
