I had my first service yesterday. The weather here at the moment is freezing so the car was full of ice.
Service seemed quick, Although they put 5 miles on the car.. is that nessesary?
Anyhow. just jumped in the car today and relized there's a mark where the paint has been taken off just where the
nearside wiper arm is. looks like they have opened the
bonet without checking the wipers where parked. B@stards. went down there this afternoon but they were closed. really not happy as you can see this all the time while driving. :(
Probably not. My guess is that it'll come down to "your word" vs "their word," and their word usually wins. They can easily claim that the damage happened AFTER you left the dealership. BUT. You
never know. You just might find someone in the service department who will fess up to the mishap. We'll keep our fingers crossed for you. Let us know how you make out. [:)]
If the dealer is at all reputable they should clearly see how it could be their fault and it's probably not the first time. I noticed that the first time i opened the hood on a 171 in the showroom.
Go directly to the service manager and ask him to personally take a look at what you discovered after they serviced your car.
I've had good results from dealers who were not even the delivering dealer. Be calm and let him know you are certain that they caused it and they should make it right.
My dealer caused a similar scrape on my old SLK350. I can tell you right now, they fixed it - right and quick. If your dealer respects customers at all, it will repair this problem for you. It would cost them almost nothing to touch that up. If you are like the rest of us, this is not - or will not - be the first or last MB you will buy. In fact, I'd bet you are in the market for a new car within the next 30 months (that is the average time an MB owner keeps a car). The dealer - if it has any business acumen at all - will strive to make you a repeat customer. That is where the real money is at for them. Tell them that you would be happy to take your future business elsewhere and I have a feeling they will make this minor repair.
well at the dealer now.. seems there going to touch it up, and throw a free wash in.. :)
Be sure to rate your dealer on the:

website! Too many people only take the time to rate things when they are having problems. I'm not affiliated with the site; I only want to use the power of the internet to shift things in our direction as consumers.

Glad to hear that you got a satisfactory resolution. [:D] Just one question, though. Doesn't your dealer always give you a free car wash and clean your interior when you bring it in for service? [?]
I am sorry for you Easty. I hate it when these things happen. [:(!]
Anyone here has a list of things one should always do before taking one's car in for service? Maybe it could avoid some annoying incidents such as this one.
