I need a part number. - Benzworld.org

I could call up my Merc dealer but they are useless at giving me any sort of info and I reckon I'll get a quicker response on here. I need the part number for the Lux climate control unit. The bit that would give me the digital display etc. against the normal dials you get with the std air con.

It an apparently be retrofitted so I just want to get hold of that part and give it a bash.

Anyone with any info?

I believe the part number is A 171 830 01 85 05 and you can find a guide on how to it here:

I think most people bought theirs from Tilo whose email address is on that page. You might want to send him an email first to see if he is cheaper/faster.

Have updated my profile now, thanks for advising me of that.

I emailed that bloke re: the lux climate control unit but the email came back undeliverable, hence I am asking for the part number so I can get it in the UK. I'll try him again and see what happens.

It might be worth while doing a search on eBay as I retro fitted that module and bought it off eBay, and a slightly cheaper price than from the dealer!!!! [:)]

Just checked on ebay for this guy Tilo and he is now no longer a registered seller on ebay. Sent him another email and its come back failed again. Hmmmm, this is proving difficult.

Got a very speedy reply from Steve:

"We can get you the digital climate control for the R171 SLK, for Euro 315 including shipment per International Priority Post and including 19% Dutch VAT.

It is not 100% sure that the climatronic will actually work - although we have sold a couple of them in the past few weeks. And they seem to work flawlessly in the customer's car(s)."

Can anyone confirm that it will definitely work if I replace the std unit with the lux climate control unit?

Does 315 Euros seem fair including shipping?
