Air & Cabin Filters

As a new owner, I suppose I am going to be asking questions for a while. Hope nobody minds.

I would appreciate some help on removing the rear engine cover. The front cover is easy to remove but I'm afraid I will break something by just trying to pry it off. I want to check the air filter which I assume is under there. Also does anyone know the cabin filter(s) location and the part numbers for them?

I don't think you have a rear engine.

If you have... i think they've sold you a Porsche. [;)]

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Welcome to the forum, somebody sane will be along with the correct answer in a minute. [:)]

RE: Air & Cabin Filters

Yup, the rear cover portion is removed quite simply by just nudging it upwards after removing the two tubes that feed air into it form the front.

My rear cover piece was also attached at the back right hand corner with some plastic strip to an other tube. Not sure why, but my guess is it's done to keep the tube from moving about.

RE: Air & Cabin Filters

Thanks for the link and responses but you guys have 55's and the covers are somewhat different. I have a 350. Is the removal the same?

RE: Air & Cabin Filters

dixiebenz,

Believe it or not the SLK350 uses the same exact filters as the 55 AMG's do, the airbox is removed in a similar fashion. When I removed the airbox on my SLK350 I too was worried about breaking something, if you inspect your airbox thoroughly you will notice a latch that holds the middle of your airbox down, this latch is located at the top of the airbox near the windshield of your car. Once you unfasten this clip you will be able to just lift the airbox off, I would lift from one corner and work my way around the entire airbox, this airbox just sort of snaps in and is very easy to take off. Please be sure to remove any hoses and the airducts. The part number for the airfilters: A112 094 00 04 I have included a picture with some more detailed information, I hope this helps.

Ynot,
I don't know who SLKfromOakley is but I hope I can help.[;)]
