AirScarf

I was considering the heating package option and I thought since i was living in california, and that the dealer doesn't have a car ready for purchase with the option, i got one without the heating. I did not want the wait and couldn't wait to get my hands on the car.
However, now I regretted not getting the package :(. Is there anyway i can have the airscarf installed onto my car? Should i go back to the MB dealer or do i have to do it myself and buy it after market? Anyway, my car is an slk 350 '06. so if there's anythig i can do about it, please tell me. thx ^^

RE: AirScarf

hello and welcome,

unfortunately retrofitting airscarf is nigh on impossible!

RE: AirScarf

It seems like a difficult after-production option. I can only imagine the amount of work it would take (and cost) including the seats and electronics involved.

Possible? I don't know, but someone here will be able to comment about that. If you can do it, then it is a great option. As someone else mentioned, even with top up it makes the SLK a comfy (if not practical) winter car. With top down, it is terrific.

Good luck!

I can't think of anything positive because it would require replacing the seats and the control panel between the stereo and AC. Plus all the wiring involved.

Just noticed - Juliens pic show the US cars have text labels on the lower Comand controls whereas my (UK) car has symbols.

(sorry if I'm late in noticing this!)

Yes.. and I would rather have the icons, personally. After all, we don't want to artificially enhance the perception that Americans can read! [;)]

Not getting heated seats was something I regretted in my W208, so I absolutely knew I'd be getting them in the R171. And knowing that top-down would be my preferred mode, Airscarf seemed more than prudent. Sure they add cost, but oh goodness they make the driving experience more pleasant.

I am curious whether anyone has info on the frequency at which these options are ordered... to get a sense of whether it might just make sense for these options to be standard in this car. Even in desert climates it can get extremely chilly after dark. [;)]
