Does any one know if this is related to not using the darn car for extended periods of time? I have put 1,300 KMs (940 miles) on the car during the last 6 months and this is my 8th trip to the dealer! And, I do not have the oil problem yet!!!!!
Well, it is nearing winter time here and this is when I intent on using her. This ESP thing is getting ridiculous. They told me it was the figgin sensor of some kind last time, do not know what they will tell me now [:(!]
Will there be any harm done if I drive the car with this malfunction and ignore it? Is it linked to the ABS, Cruise and what not? I am just hating to go to the dealership now because of all the scratches they put on my car....
ESP? Are you talking about seeing an orange triangle light up on your dash occasionally when driving?
You don't need to worry, it's just an information for the driver that the car had to apply some 'correction' to your driving style because you were slipping or accelerating too hard etc...
I strongly suggest you get the BEST winter tires you can. Summer tires are usually made of rubber which gets hard in cold weather and your car can easily slip. Winter tires keep better grip, and if you plan to drive in winter, then you need to get those winter tires on her so that the car doesn't need to correct your driving style as much. In the worst case scenario, it won't be able to correct anything because the tires slip too much!

Yes I a! Unfortunately, I never had that come up during my "Conservative" driving style.... It is showing as a Malfunction in the info box.... Will the car break if I drive it without going to the dealer? Will my ABS continue to work? What about other systems?
You got a "malfunction" message due to ESP? In that case, it is NOT normal, and you should get it looked at.
Did the malfunction message stay, or did it go away over night? If it went away overnight, it probably isn't that dangerous, but I never get a malfunction message if the ESP kicks in, that just ain't normal. The malfunction error might have appeared if the ESP tried to strut its stuff, but did not work, i.e. it's broken.
This happened to me too. One day I suddenly had 2 malfunction warnings, BAS fail and ESP fail. The power steering also was not working (I had to really turn the wheel hard). I took it into the dealer and they replaced the ESP module and it fixed the problem.

I don't think winter tires are needed in Dubai[:0]
