I got a message on my car concerning the wiper liquids

Was going home today, and I suddenly see a message pop up saying that I needed to refill the soapy wiper liquids canister (or whatever that stuff is/was called).

So, if I got this right, the car also has a detector when you're running low on windshield wiper fluids?

Well, it's true that I've been using it quite a lot since it's been raining this past week and the window was often dirty, and I looked inside the wiper liquid bottle, and didn't really see anything in there... so I guess I'll have to fill her up.

But anyway, what I DID realise, is that this thing leaves a "Malfunction" message on the onboard computer! Do you guys think if I fill her up with wiper fluids, that the error message goes away, or do I need to reset something? And I wonder what is the recommended liquid from MB for adding inside there. Maybe I should just put any old liquid, what do you guys think?

I've never done this since I've never run out before, so I guess it doesn't hurt to be careful [;)]

the MB stuff is very reasonably priced, and a nice pink colour to boot! i'd use that as it contains all the necessary additives.

i'd guess the on board computer will detect the levels are correct once again and remove the message.

RE: I got a message on my car concerning the wiper liquids

I guess I'll pass by the MB dealer then and get some of the stuff... I'll ask the same time if I can use something else (that is possibly cheaper... not sure they'll tell me, of course) and if the detector then resets itself.

I guess it must work in the same way to the oil level thingie that tells you to add oil, and when you do, it doesn't ask you again.

But it's annoying that this thing notes it down as a "Malfunction". Malfunctions I think are only removed once you clear the codes with the Star system... Oh well, I'll see tomorrow I guess.

The malfunction message will be removed once the low condition has been corrected.
