Trying to follow your SLK around the world during shipping just isn't easy. After five days of checking with my car's VIN number, I finally got a "hit" from the http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTracking/searchCargo.do web site.
I had been trying a few times a day, and had almost given up the chase from this site; and actually found several other alternatives including a shipment through Houston and by local transport to St. Louis. But today, the information is even more confusing.
I was able to get the: Cargo ID, Booking Number, Bill Number, Vessel Name, POE, POD, Customer Ref Nbr and Voyage Number. Another field left blank is the Priority, which of course I would like to fill in myself. And I know now that my SLK is onboard, it is time to "shove off" and get on the way [:)].
But the "niggle" is the date of booking, receipt at terminal and loading on vessel. The dates for these events are 3/9/05/1/10/05 and 3/10/05???? Of course, I assume these are "niggles" in the sense of just not making sense or being input correctly (or not at all and just accepting default dates). But I am comfortable that my SLK is on board, and today is October 3rd, and most voyages from Bremerhaven to Baltimore take about 12-13 days, plus two days from Baltimore to St. Louis. Lets see, that is arrival as early as October 28 plus a day or two for others to look over my SLK; leaving me with delivery about November 1 -- which would be a very good day.
The vessel is appropriately named the "Courage". I hope noone bursts my bubble with other "facts" that negate this information; at least for a day [:)]

The dates that you are quoting are expressed in European terms with the day, month, and year in that order thus 1/10/05 is 10/1/05 in U.S. language. Mercedes does give priority at the VPC's for cars that are sold (ordered by a customer).
I just found information that the vessel takes 12 days from Bremerhaven to Baltimore; it was scheduled to leave Bremerhaven on Oct 1 -- so it is 3 days late.
Of course, I will be in San Francisto between Oct 22-25; so you can almost bet it will arrive while I am out of town [:(!]
The story gets better. The "Courage" and my SLK are now listed as "sailed" on 10/3/05; and scheduled for delivery in Baltimore on October 15, 2005. The rest of the schedule includes one day in Antwerp (Oct 5), one in Southampton (Oct 6), followed by 9 lonely days traversing the ocean before it arrives in Baltimore.
The Courage is listed as an Auto Cargo ship; but has both 20 and 40 ft containers for heavy lift, and Ro Ro. So, no way to tell much from all that.
My SLK 280 is on that same ship.[:D]
However, using the tracking link all I see is that my car was loaded on 10/3. How do you know that it has actually sailed?
i actually found a shipper that offers GPS viewing of their ships. That would be a nice feature to add for Atlantic crossings but this shipper is exclusively Pacific.
Hmmm, I wonder if my SLK is on that boat too! My dealer is nice enough, but doesn't know everything about the process.
I checked on their site, but couldn't search by VIN number.
Supposedly is was also completed on 09/28/2005, and I have a VIN number of 'WDBWK73F06F100276', but I'm getting no result when searching.
Could one of you guys check for me? I'd love to know when my baby will arrive!! And hey, if mine is here when you're in the SF Bay Area you're welcome to come check 'er out! ;)
