I have been following the Benzworld Forum with great interest since ordering my SLK. I read about "niggles" and oil consumption, along with "new car foul smell" etc. Occassionally I hear about others who have perfect cars.
As I wait for my SLK (one more month to go), I was wondering what percentages of buyers have had no problems. I am not particularly picky, but I don't like connstant trips to a dealer.
What are your thoughts?

Nobody gets on this forum and posts everyday how great their car is running, the fact that their computer didn't crash, that their TV turned on, and that their home security system kept away the burgler. The advantage to seeing the complaints is that if you detect any of the issues people have mentioned, you can take action. However, there what 100 maybe 200 people that post an issue (not post in general) here? How many thousands or tens of thousands of cars are produced?
However, as soon as something bothers someone, they find the nearest appropriate (or sometimes inappropriate) venue for complaining.
I for one am in love with my car. Whoever said you can't buy happiness has never driven the SLK55.

Thanks CMiYC, that is the kind of post I want to read for a change. I understand the nature of forums, but wanted to hear a bit from the other side.
I am home from work today, and am getting anxious to get my SLK 350. I have never even heard the sound of the SLK 350 (only tested a 280), but can hear the resonant tones of the SLK in my dreams.
I am 100% satisfied with my new '06 SLK55.
Having owned Mercedes's since 1998 (2 ML's, 1 C-class) I have also experienced just about 100% satisfaction with their product.
Expecting the sam with the SLK. [;)]

There are a few niggles, and things that by design that aren't perfect, but comparing with other new cars I have owned, it has a similar number of issues - nothing serious for me.
Overall, it looks fantastic, it's good to drive, and the noise of the 350 engine is great - especially roof down, with a reflection off something! There's a nice stereo effect from the 2 exhaust pipes...
I am happy and will probably hit 18,000 miles tomorrow. My only problems have been things that would happen with any car...windshield replaced from rock hit (~12K miles) and now a bumper being replaced from hitting something in the road (dark in traffic)...still love the car...[:D][8D][:D][8D][:D]
I've had my SLK 350 since the end of last November. I have had ZERO problems with it. I have a few design criticisms such as a lack of lumbar support in the seats but it is a fantastic car and it still get lots of attention where ever I drive it.
I know I am really going to love the sound of the SLK driving along winding roads with the top down. And of course, I just know my neighbors will enjoy it as much as me.
