Can someone tell me what the Standing Lamps are for? Those are the lamps discussed on page 110 of the manual. For the life of me I cannot figure out WHY I'd want to illuminate one side parking light...
I think that's a European option. It leaves the parking lights on, on the street side, for safer narrow street parking. It helps drivers see the parked car better in dimmly lit, narrow streets. Having only the street side lit helps conserve battery power and bulb life.

I just bought a 2006 Mercedes-Benz A150 Classic SE and can't find any information on how to disable the standing lamps.. In my neighbourhood it will only attract unwanted attention to the car... And suggestions where I can find the disable feature?
I never had a benz or a German car for that matter without this function, with a lot of drunk and dumb people driviing at night, this facility may help avert a disaster..... DO not forget that many european and other cities have very narrow streets.
I have been to Europe quite a few times and I have never seen a car parked with the standing lamp on. I wonder what it does to the battery when this lamp stays lit for several hours... It would be interesting to have a standing lamp that lights up only when a car approaches and shuts off afterwards.
They are actually called 'parking lights' and they are illegal anyway in some EU countries (including the UK), which state that all side and tail lamps must be illuminated at once, and not just one side or the other. They must be legal in Germany but I'm not sure of any other places.
