SLK as a daily driver

I'm considering replacing my 05 C230 with an 06 SLK.
The thing is that I would have to use the SLK as a daily driver.

Considering that:

1. I have no children living with me.

2. During the week I basically just use the car to: (A) Commute from house to work and back, all by myself; and (B) Go out for lunch with one or 2 colleges from work (would need to get rid of one or drive on someone else's car)

3. During the weekend, its only the wife and me on usually short trips (no more than 300 miles)

4. The wife drives a 4 door pickup (yuck!), that could be used if we needed to haul someone else or luggage.

Do you think that it is possible?
Or still I will be "missing" something?

In your situation, the SLK will be a fine "every day car". I would advise against it if you lived where they get snow in the winter.

Get it. My situation is similar to yours and I've had no problems.

SLK is fine as a daily driver if you get the automatic. I drive the 6MT and I luckily only have a 1 mile commute. Imagine sitting through a 30 minute commute in stop and go traffic every day with a 6MT though. I also have a 530i and an Odyssey to haul anything, so as long as you have a backup car for other purposes, you're all set. With gas prices the way they are, it's good not to have to drive when you don't have to for lunch!

Snow is definetly not a concern...
We have had snow only one day in the last 200 years.. DEC 25, 2004... Yup a white Christmas (about 3 inches)... Till about noon.. by that time it was all gone as we were 95F again...

More or less the same situaltion I am in but I have to deal with snow. I plan on getting four snow tires for it. I could not live without them.

RE: SLK as a daily driver

I drive mine every day. Took the Volvo wagon the day I had to pick up ten bags of softener salt, but that's about it.

Works just fine for me. Gotta go drive it right now, in fact ...

slk all the way, 6 MT if you hit occasional traffic. With plenty of torque to spare, you really don't have to change gear that often.

Well if you are working and taking two colleges with you that is overload anyway. Wouldn't one college be enough? [:p]
