I am new to this website and I just got my SLK 350.
I have a question on the spearkers... how come there arent any sound on the back speakers??? Is there any way I can connect my front speaker to the rear speakers?
Dude, welcome to the club! It's amazing how many of the new owners notice this problem. In brief:
1. You are right
2. MB F!!cked up
3. Keep reading this forum: a lot of people are working on that issue and no easy solution yet, but it's a work in progress
4. Go pray that will be the only thing you will find wrong in this car
5. Try to enjoy the car (the things that are enjoyable) meanwhile
5. check your oil level! Forget about sound!
Is this only with the base sound system??? Although I am waiting for mine to be delivered, I didn't notice this on the upgraded system on the SLK I test drove...I sat in the car for about 15 minutes with my CDs trying all kinds of music and didn't notice this??? Any thoughts???
Thanks...Ryan
The HK is a little better b/c of the two extra speakers it has in the back and the subwoofer, but not much better. Trust me: you WILL notice it. The unrelated problem with the HK for some people is that it comes with the ugly Satellite wart on the trunk. If you are OK with that, it's good to have the HK/COMAND/Sat for the money you pay in the ENT package.

Well the wart only comes if you have Sirius. I have the Entertainment package with NAV and no Sirius thus no wart.
I have found that the rear speakers work really well with some CDs but have no explanation as to why. Like everyone else I noticed there was almost no sound out of the rear speakers. Then one day I started playing a new cd by Robert Downey, Jr. and music was blasting out of the rear speaker. Hasn't happened with any other cds and I do not know what the difference is in that particular CD.
reference the 'wart': the new sirius antenna is small and silver and looks like the trunk antenna on the 2002-2004 slk 230 and 320. or you can go wartless with a stealth install under the engine cowl as i and others have done.

It doesn't bother me, it's actually not that bad, it's small and painted to match the body color, even better when ppl say, "Cool, you have satellite radio."
I haven't notice the rear speakers yet, probably b/c I'm still smiling and grinning at the moment.

When you removed the satellite wart, did it leave a hole in the trunk? Did you have to repaint it? I doubt I'll renew my subscription after the six months so will probably remove it in the future if it doesn't leave a mark.
