fomymercedes.com is selling a SL style antenna for $275 painted.

This is there description:

This antennae is not only fine looking, it also works well. Antennae is styled after the SL version. It comes painted to match your SLK, and has an inside the bumper antennae included. Made in Germany.

Has anybody here ordered it yet? It looks good, does it work?

Is the "inside the bumper" antenna included because the reception is so poor with just this antenna? Is that something I can install myself (not mechanically inclined)?

Hey Reallife - Definitely let us know what you find out. I had exactly the same questions as Malibuite. If they can get a perfect paint match and it's a simple installation, sign me up! [:D]

I have heard(=read!) the reception is not as good as the standard. Does any one have any info on that?
If the reception is good, I would like to join!

The factory antenna from the r170 works great, absolutely no reception lost for local radio stations. Although I can't get any stations from the nearby cities but that's fine, I hardly listen to them anyways. It's worth the 55 bucks including tax and looks great, about 4 inches long, screw right into the base, installation can't be any simpler. I don't recommend painting it b/c it's rubber, paint will eventually peel off. I didn't think I like it unpainted but it looks fine.
