Cruise control display question. Does you car display the cruise control speed in the lower display?

WHEN YOU SWITCH YOUR CRUISE CONTROL ON DOES IT DISPLAY THE SET SPEED IN THE LOWER DIGITAL DISPLAY AFTER IT DISAPPEARS FROM THE UPPER DISPLAY. MY SLK350 DID BUT MY SLK55 DOES NOT AND SO THERE IS NOTHING TO SHOW THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL IS TURNED ON AT ALL OR WHAT SPEED IT IS SET TO

Even wackier: my 1st SLK350 an(LE) did exactly as you describe. The Orion Blue (new) one that I ordered in Oct and purchased in Feb doesn't. I mentioned it once before but the response was "it is a command set-up". I knew the respondents were wrong, cause neither had command. Go figure.

I think it's a bad design if they no longer do as you do not know the cruise control is on nor at what speed it is set

Mine displays the speed briefly in the UPPER display. My guess is that it's an option. RTFM and go through the menus?

Yeah, my does show the cruise control speed on the bottom. Mine is a 2005 SLK350. Is your a 2006? Maybe they took out that feature for 2006. Cannot find a good reason for it, but my 2002 C230 does not show cruise control speed on the bottm or anywhere at all. You just kind of know how fast you are going and what speed it is set because you will be cruising at that speed.

Aquascape
No you aren't crazy. Your previous 350 showed a temporary upper display and a constant lower display until cruise was disengaged. Precisely as my LE did. The new one doesn't. No explanation in the manual FOR EITHER scenerio. There isn't an "option" package one way or the other which explains why an idiot like me can't comprehend it. BECAUSE I READ INSTRUCTIONS FIRST. Consquently I engage brain before operating mouth (or keyboard).

It seems sensible to me to have something showing you that you have the cruise control switched on and ideally what speed it is set to

Aquascape- I couldn't agree more. I miss that reference point especially while driving for hours at highway speeds when I am constantly engaging and disengaging the cruise to react to other traffic. I'd love to find a way to get it this car. However it isn't the end of the world. I know! I've seen it!
