Now that the weather here in Phoenix has gotten HOT, I've noticed that the fan in the engine compartment runs nearly all the time and is extremely loud. Has anyone else noticed this? Is the fan supposed to be that loud? I love having people turn to stare at my SLK because it looks great, but lately they've been turning to stare because it's obnoxiously noisy!

the fan that runs when the AC is on is very loud. my car does not make a loud fan noise when the AC is not on.

Yup, sounds sort of like a turbine engine, especially when is spools down.

I have a CLK500 convertible and also live in Arizona. My fan is VERY LOUD. I took it in for service at the Mercedes dealership. I was told that it was normal. I don't believe it. I've been thinking about taking it to another Mercedes dealership for a second opinion. It's way too LOUD!

On both my previous 06 SLK 280 & my new 09 SLK 350, the engine fan is very loud when the AC is on and the outside temp is high. So it is normal.

I have a C240 and with the AC on high, I get the same thing.
