I have the Ent. Package. I thought that it has the speed dependent volume control i.e. the volume adjusts automatically with the noise/speed of the car. I have it in our Lexus GS430 and 300 so do know how it works. When I brought the car in for the 3000 miles check, I asked them to check it out b/c it doesn't seem to work. The MB tech guy said that the SLK 350 DOES NOT have it. Is it true? Well, he said that it DOES NOT have the Logic 7 either! Well, I showed him on the COMAND display that it does have Logic 7 and he seemed quite surprise. So what do you guys think? Does it or does it not have the speed dependent volume? Thanks for any input.
I asked the service manager to have mine checked during my first service. When I picked the car up, he said that the auto volume control was working O.K., so they didn't make any changes. However, to me, the volume stays the same under any driving condition. Personally, I don't think there is such a thing as auto volume control on this car - it's a myth. Also, a lot of people have reported that there is hardly any rear speaker volume - and no way to control it. Logic 7 is certainly a dud IMO.
Does anyone know a good test to check whether auto volume is actually working? Short of buying some expensive equipment, I'm relying on my hearing to discern any difference in volume.
It does not have speed adjusted volume. They have what they call some type of adjustment or compensation for cabin noise, but it does not work like the speed thing on other cars. It is annoying at times to have to actively adjust the volume, but the HK system is, otherwise, very nice. Just tap the steering wheel volume buttons.
My HK system gets louder and softer when the cabin noise gets louder.
Errr... would that not mean that as the cabin got louder the HK would get louder making the cabin louder so the HK gets louder... and so on till your eardrums went splat ?
I think I get what you mean though, must confess I have not noticed this myself with the HK.
Perhaps if the cabin noise gets loud enough the rear speakers will join in too [;)]
It has a cabin noise level sensor, and it does work, albeit subtly. I have noticed that the sound changes as soon as the roof cracks open and it does increase in intensity when I have wind noise.
So it is official then, that it does not have an automatic volume control right? What a bummer [xx(] For a car at this price, it should have one!!!
Nope, wrong. If you have the HK system it has a ambient noise "automatic volume control". What the other poster was saying was it does not use a SPEED sensitive volume control.
The ambient noise control is actually a better (and more expensive) control. As 40mph on one pavement may be different on a different street.

Well bloflin, I do have the HK system, and did not notice one bit of difference from the "ambient noise control" at any speed or on any pavement. Anyway, I am having theMB tech guy looking into it. The head tech guy at the local dealership does not know anything about Logic 7 or any "ambient noise control" on the HK system [:(]
