Attempted Car Jacking

Well, what can i say driving through my local town in UK called Luton - pulled up behind a car at the traffic lights then all of a sudden a group of osama bin laden pakistanies came up to my car(roof was down).

one grabbed the key's from my ignition before i could register what was happening, then they started talking in their foreign toung and saying in their English "get out - get outa tha car". well obviously i didn't take well to this so i told them to piss of "Im callin the police" then one of them leaned over me (i was sitting down) and punched me in the face [:(!] now i have a big black eye. then i jumped up and smacked the guy holding my key's. he dropped the key's inside the car then the traffic started to move. i quickly started the car and drove of - only to notice a whole car packed with the paki's they tryed to catch me up and ram my car but i was to quick for them.

Watch out guy's and girl's.

brainless osama bin laden freaks the world would be a better place without all of you!!!!.

Sorry to hear about that. Sometimes, you are better off letting them take the car - you could get knifed or shot or whatever, and the mad thing is, it can happen anywhere, and by anyone - you never know what phsycho's are out there.

RE: Attempted Car Jacking

That's a really awfull story and I'm just glad you got away with only minor injuries.

Just one question which might help other people. Did you have the windows up or down? Whilst I prefer the windows down whilst driving, i'm starting to think it might be wise to leave them up especially in traffic.

I hadn't ever considered someone grabing the keys but I had thought about them opening the car from the inside and getting in that way. Just shows you can never under estimate a scumbags mind. They think of things in a completely different way.

Some tips that I now follow:

1) Never leave a key, even a spare key in the house.
2) If going on holiday leave car keys at a relative (both sets). Probably one without an interest in driving fast without insurance.
3) Never leave keys by the front door or visible from any window. People can actually fish them out through the letterbox in the front door.
4) Don't ever leave people alone at the front door they could be opportunists.
5) Don't ever answer the door without knowing who it is.
6) Keep the windows in the car up.
7) Always leave a bit of a gap in front of you in traffic in case you need to get away.
8) Be very cautious when getting in and out of the car. This is when alot of car jackers around where I live have struck. Supermarkets, petrol garages etc. I won't even go near the car if there is anyone dodgy around it.
9) If i'm going somewhere really dodgy and far away I actually hire a car. It's only £30 a day unlimited milleage. It's quite refreshing to just be able to dump it wherever and not worry about it, when I did the costings for a long work trip it was cheaper to hire a car than take the SLK. Not as fun though granted.
Or you could pretend the check engine light came on and borrow MB's courtesy car for a couple of days.
10) Get a shotgun and stick it behind the passenger seat.

When I first got it I was quite strict in following this guide but lately I've been getting abit lapse, so hopefully this is a bit of wakeup call.

RE: Attempted Car Jacking

Do you not realise those lesser priveliged than ourselves have a right to hijack your car?! They have not been so fortunate in life as us, probably come from broken homes and have nothing to do but hang about street corners! I think it was most inconsiderate of you not even explaining how the various features work!

Seriously that is a nightmare - Woolly you are quite right but in the spur of the moment you do try and protect your property without thinking through the consequences!

Bet the police were no help either! Unless of course you took the law into your own hands - or jumped a red light trying to escape from them - when they have you up on a charge!

How about razor wire round the cabin that would sort them - but might take the look away from the car! ..................or something nice and sharp on the key fob like a few wilkinson sword blades so if they grab them them they wont have fingers left for the next time - but just remember not to put the keys in your trouser pockets!!

Very sorry to hear that and hope all is well for you. Thanks for posting this and it is a reminder for all that one needs to be very carefully, especially getting gas in the late or early hours with few people around.

This is all too common in the US and everywhere. Just a a couple weeks ago, a guy was hijacked of his mercedes in a San Fran. gas station, but luckily he was an off-duty officer. The hijacker got shot good.

I'm sorry to hear this event happened to you. It is unfortuante there are people in the world who feel the need to take from others. Sometimes its kids having fun (in their mind) or it is someone who has no other choice.

On a slightly different topic, please remember that Osama was not from Pakistan. Osama and his crusaders are from Afghanistan. Some people from the Middle East take offense to being associated with the wrong nationality...

RE: Attempted Car Jacking

This is why many of us in the U.S. carry handguns when we go into questionable areas, I often do. It may not be legal but it is advisable. As a police officer once told me, the penalty for getting caught with a concealed weapon is small compared to being caught without one by the bad guys.

RE: Attempted Car Jacking

Is the term "crusader" relevant to Osama Bin Liner and his friends?

The Crusades were a series of several military campaigns — usually sanctioned by the Papacy— that took place during the 11th through 13th centuries. Originally, they were Roman Catholic endeavors to re-capture the Holy Land from the Muslims, but some were directed against other Europeans, such as the Fourth Crusade against Constantinople, the Albigensian Crusade against the Cathars of southern France and the Northern Crusades.

Can we call Osama and his band "crusaders" if they are Muslims? I think this is at odds with history!

What this has to do with my car i dont know but thought I would make the point anyway!!

RE: Attempted Car Jacking

PS - and another thing this country is too soft and politically correct - should be more like the USA - if these guys are gonna try and steal/intimidate us then we should have the power to retailate with sufficient force!! (and i am not talking about one minority group I am talking about the whole cross section of trash who are out there!)
