Global Warming

When is it gonna happen? I personally can't wait!! Haven't been out in the SLK now for bout 5 weeks - only 700 miles on it since November [V] Evidently, in my particular part of the poor impoverished North East, Darlington & Durham councils are using a new type of road salt with a special additive (acording to MCN (Motor Cycle News)). This does not wash away as quickly as regular salt, so you don't need as much of it. Only problem is that the guys who spread it use the same amount as normal salt. You end up with a slimy/greasy layer of black gunge on the road (and over/under your wheels). Today I took my Ducati out for a 50 mile blast, so tomorrow, I'm gonna have to spend all morning washing and polishing it.

Roll on Summer[:(]

Haven't mentioned the 75 Bonnie & 1937 Norton 500 yet[:)][:)] The Aston, Merc, Duke and other bikes are all just toys --- Regular wheels is a 'T' reg (1999) Renault Kangeroo Van (OK - Kangoo) in Bright Banana Yellow!! Great being a decadent plutocrat[8D][8D][8D]

Woolly,

I sympathize with you. In Chicago, they put down quite an excess amount of road salt. I attribute it to crooked politicians whose friends get the no bid contracts to sell and haul the stuff (at least that's what the newspapers have been saying for years). I've had my car since the end of November and I have less than 600 miles on it.

In our neck of the woods, the salting/gritting contracts have been handed out to local farmers - if there is a sniff of cold weather they can't wait to be spreading the stuff, especially at weekends when they get double time - just when we want to be out to play[:(][:(]
