Memory Seats

Does it worry anyone, that when you have 'activate easy entry system' set in the convienience menu set on COMMAND the system, when you take the key out, drives the seat back into the rear bulkhead and then appears to keep on trying to move it. Do the motors have limit switches or something similar - or will the seat motors burn out after a while??

ps still waiting to find out if we can have DVD on the move - if it works, will sub IANX a bit!

RE: Memory Seats

Hi Wooley: On my SLK350 the seat memory takes the drivers seat back but stops before it hits the bulkhead. What bothers me is on the passanger seat, moving it back with the side horizontal movement switch, the seat goes back only so far, about an inch from the bulkhead and then the back of the seat , on its own, starts to move forward and the seat bottom does also, even with the switch held for back ward movement. Haven't had time to check this out with the dealer.

RE: Memory Seats

Yeah, that does not sound right. I have to start taking notes on all this sort of stuff so I can check out mine when it arrives.

RE: Memory Seats

Hi RedSLK, I've read the book all the way through, and I feel there should be a 'parked, ignition off' setting for the seats, but I cannot find one. When I turn the ignition off, my drivers seat moves all the way back (and then tries some more), the seat squab moves all the way down (and then tries some more) and the seat back moves all the way up (and then tries some more). The steering wheel moves all the way up & in - very easy to get out of the car, but as I said, worried about the motors being overdriven.

RE: Memory Seats

Shinigami brought up another memory-seat related concern a while ago.

RE: Memory Seats

Hi IANX1, it's nice to have the seats move back automatically. I'd clocked Shimani's post earlier, and I think the best way to use the memory function, is to disable the 'Convienience' function, and set one of the 3 memory positions to 'nearly' all the way back, 'nearly' all the way down, & 'nearly' up for the back, and move the wheel all the way in & up. Use this posn when u stop, & I might not have the worry 'bout burned out motors.

RedSLK1, I noticed this at the dealership when my wife was trying to adjust the seat. What it's actually doing is adjusting the backrest so that the base can move further back. For example, if you recline the seat back at an angle _/ the headrest portion will reach the back first with room to spare for the base. So the electronics move the backrest forward automatically _| to be able to move the whole seat back. It's rather annoying to play with but it's a 2 seater with limited space. I hope that makes sense.
