Another Secret Menu in COMAND (or how to change your Nav voice without changing vehicle region!)

For all those who want 'Brit Chick' or 'US Chick' without changing anything else!!

Have located a Nav 'Service Mode' Menu
There are 20 menu options in here!!! (snapshots to follow)

Most are beyond my limited understanding at the moment, so do not change anything you are unsure of as your NAV may stop working properly and require dealer fix.

This secret menu is quite difficult to get into.
What you need to do.

1. Select/program a route to be calculated.
2. In Map mode make sure that you see a Split screen view (Map on left side, next turn on right side)
3. Press Nav button (it will say "Cancel Route" with Yes or No Options)
4. Select No and press OK
5. Now within 1 second press 3 then 5 then 7 in that order and keep held until the 'Service mode' menu appears. (note: do not press 5 then 3 and 7 like for the other hidden menu!)
6. Scroll down to Language and press OK.
7. Select 'English British' for Brit Chick.
8. It will say reading Nav Disk for a few seconds.
9 Press Back repeatedly until you are in map mode once more
10. Test by pressing the button thats got the Ear symbol, you should hear the voice of your choice!

I will reiterate: PLAY WITH THE OTHER MENU OPTIONS AT YOUR PERIL, they are not all self explantory and may alter the functioning of your NAV system!!!!

Two of the other Main Menu options that are self-explantory are

Set Metrics
This option allows you to change between 1 of the following 3 options
a. KMs and Metres
b. Miles and Feet
c. Miles and Yards

Set Map colour set
This option allows you to apply a 'skin' from 4 different options. Mainly changes the maps background colour.

Does this only work if you have NAV. I am getting the better sound system, but no nav system. Let us all know if we can reprogram to play videos in the US. Looks like you're having more fun with the Radio than the Car!! Enjoy!!

Fill destination memory option

This option will overwrite and fill your recent destinations memory with a dozen or so locations in Germany.

I'm guessing this particular hidden menu only works with NAV as it does require you to have selected a route and to be in map mode! Anyway all these particular menu options are Nav related!

I'm still looking for the holy grail 'DVD Service Mode' menu. (I suspect it does exist because I've been told that Brabus offer a 'Region free' and 'DVD in motion' mod for Europeans that isnt done with the Star Diagnositc System! Not sure of the credibility of that statement but it does fill me with hope!)

If i'm not mistaken that middle softmenu button label says 'RegCod'

unfortunately i've not come across this hidden menu yet! but i don't think the pic is doctored!

Any Europeans with COMAND want to split the workload with me and start slowly working through the key combos! A group effort may yield a result much quicker. Then again MB may have so fiendishly hidden it we may never find it!

Let me try some of that. I don't know if I'll find the DVD menu and change the region codes, but I could try (if I get hold of that RedCodes menu).

Looks like the voice resets to default voice once the COMAND has been powered off.

Is there any way to make this change permanent?
