Why, oh why is there still no manual transmission available?

This is very annoying. Today I drove my freinds supercharged Mustang, and it felt more fun than my SLK. Why, because it was standard (and it sounded nice). A Mustang! Mustangs suck. I was driving a Citroen Saxo in Greece 3 weeks ago, and even those 55 ponies felt fun, because it was standard. I would like to trade my 230 for the 32AMG, but I will never until there is a manual trans. available. The thought of 350 hp in an SLK is very cool, but to drive it automatic is just stupid.

Ah, Mercedes, always pissing it's customers off... They do it all the time i.e. SL300's???, 16" rims on 70,000 cars???, auto trans. in a roadster??? I can go on...

Is your 230 a manual? I have a 320 6-speed manual and I would seriously question whether an SLK32 with this kind of box would be a nice car to drive (even assuming that the box would work with this kind of power). The trouble is with 350bhp it's going to scream through the gears quicker than you can change them. Maybe I'm wrong, but I've read complaints about manual BMW M3s where people regret getting the manual for this reason. Maybe a 5-speed would be OK, but the best option would be a good sequential manual box preferably with paddle changes.

It is available: Everything is possible with money[:)]
If you want a manual trans. on a SLK 32 AMG, here is what you have to do: Buy one form your MB dealer and ask RENNTECH for a manual gear box...[:)]The only problem is that its gona cost you big money[:(]

P.S: MB nor AMG offer manual gear box for AMG cars because from a market study they did, most of their customer do not want a manual trans.!!![:0] [V]

i have a 320 6MT and it could defintly NOT handle a 32's power, the clutch and fly would die

plus the ratios are too close as it is, they would need to lengthen the gears becasue you can't get to 60 with the 6speed in the SLK without shifting to third

Manual... Help!

If you like manual THAT much heres the easiest solution. Get a nice low miler 320 6Spd Manual Transmission used and ring the lovely people at Kleemann and ask them for a supercharger. FOr about £6000 they will turn your 320 into something with almost the same power as a SLK32!! Voila!!!

I love autos trannys....!

I had the terrible experience of driving a SLK 320 6 speed this weekend. In comparison with my wifes SLK 32 Auto tranny the 6 speed was terrible. The tranny is loose, reverse is an absolute nightmare and the overall powerband of the SLK 320 is horrific. It pulls okay until about 4K then it hesitates and goes again. The power comparison isn't in the same ballpark as the 32 and it's not fair to judge the two, but the 32 is a much more refined car than the 320. I am so happy my car is an auto because the Benz 6 speed is not up to par...

If you want to complain...

This has been posted before, but there is a feedback form on the AMG site.

https://dialog.mercedes-benz.com/MB/e/amg/amgdlg.shtml

I wouldn't buy an auto unless I lost both legs in a combine accident. I really want an SLK32, but it is out unless they make it a stick. I don't drive fast, so shifting myself is part of what makes driving fun. An electronically controlled sequential box would be a dream come true. I don't know who they surveyed, but most of the sports car owners I know all drive sticks.

Re: autos are for ppl who can't drive stick

That is a pretty lame statement.

My other car is an NSX 5 speed. Somehow I am still able to drive the nsx while having an SLK32.
