My new Black SLK 32 AMG

I took delivery of my new Black/Black SLK 32 AMG on Friday. It makes a Porsche Carrera Convertible eat it's own doggie-do! The only thing faster than this would be a Porsche Turbo or GT2, a Lambo, or an F360/F550 Ferrari. I have timed it to 100km/h in 4.6 seconds with 2 people on board!

Yee haa!

How do you post photos on this board?

Cheers,

Re: My new Black SLK 32 AMG

I am having this done next week - the 'ECM Pod' as I will call it goes in this week to defuse any legal issues related to stretching the legs of this fine beast! How high does it go (I'd guess between 300 and 310kmh)?

Re: My new Black SLK 32 AMG

Had it done at AMG - stretched it out to 185 mph - approx 305+km/hr, it had more to give but ran out of road, but oh boy the acceleration from 90 mph to 160 mph - phenomenal.

Re: My new Black SLK 32 AMG

Demetris! WOW!

I had a feeling 300+ was possible (my guess is 310). I'll be having the limiter removed next week and will be going for a top-speed run in next weekend after this is done. Were there any high-speed stability issues (or braking instability) that you think I might like to know?

Thanking you in advance!

By the way - are you happy with your AMG?

Cheers,

JD Sydney Australia

300km/h??? dont think so!

If a Brabus SLK with a 6Lt engine can do about 300km/h, I dont think that the 3.2 AMG would go anymore than 280km/h!!!!!
Check your speedo with a radar gun.
Or email AMG head office and ask them what the top speed with out limiter is.

-Adam

You both are WRONG

The SLK32 AMG was tested by Mercedes-AMG and the German TUV. It is able to go 296kph!

Due to the short wheel base and therefor aerodynamic problems at high speeds, AMG only shifts the Vmax from 250 to 280kph.
If this is done by AMG warranty is not hurt. As soon as a tuner/speed shop removes the speed limit warranty is hurt.

Regards
Tim

Re: My new Black SLK 32 AMG

Thanks for your mail.

The car felt extremely stable - no movements - which really suprised me.

Has better handling than initially expected. Acceleration yo 160mph was fun.

Take care.

By the way - I am experiencing a lot of paint chips on the front amg spoiler - which is not good - also a few on the bonnet. I think that they have cut corners here - it is a bit execissive and i will be contacting MB to complain. I have had my car 2 weeks only.

p.s. enjoy the sounds of the back box when it warms up.

Re: You are Wrong

We have gone of the limiter and the car was delimited by AMG 2 weeks ago.

And the car was suprisingly stable no movement on wheel.

More importantly i am experiencing poor paint quality on front of car - I own other AMG cars and MB cars and none have developed paint chips of this extreme what are your thoughts on this.
