My ASR warning light went on today after starting the car and I also noticed the cruise control had stopped working. No error codes but pending codes PO341 and PO 410.
The car runs just fine but experience makes me suspect I am in for yet another $1500 repair bill.
Any ideas of what could cause this?
does it have esp or just asr? i assume it has asr only and my bet is that the wheel sensor(s) are either dirty or the plug maybe loose.
there are 3 speed sensors on the slk. 2 for front left and right wheels and 1 on the rear diff to measure the speed of the front and rear for traction control. asr and abs systems are interlinked so if one goes down the other will.
i would take off the front wheels and check and clean the sensor near the front wheel hubs. also check to see if they are still plugged in and not loose! the one in the back is unlikely to fail
I should have mentioned that my brake lights also failed. After some research I learned that the cruise control and brake lights are linked to the brake light switch. I went ahead and replaced the switch but it did not solve the problem. However it turned out a fuse was blown. Perhaps a faulty brake light switch tripped the fuse.
By the way, those are zeroes, not the letter "O", in your pending codes - P0410 (secondary air injection system) and P0341 (camshaft position sensor).
