hey I just got it and its way cool but im curious where people mounted the antenna on their slk's. Right now its in the rear window deck and works pretty well but always lookin to improve reception.....

On my kids Mustang convertible I mounted it on the lip of the trunk lid closest to the seats and it works great there. Doesn't get in the way of anything, the magnet holds it firm and all speeds, gets better reception than mine which is mounted inside under the rear window.
Was thinking of getting rid of factory head unit and replacing it with Sirius head unit and receiver. Is that what you did? if so, what brand, model? Just curious.
its not integerated at all, i got the audiovox pnp model
its pretty slick i gotta admit it can be used with the factory unit since it uses an fm frequency to transmit if u like and since the bose stereo has no aux in its pretty much the only way to go w/o replacing the entire head unit, which im not ready to do just yet. so i mounted it in the center consol box against the rear wall of it, so its easy to change the channels w/o having to look or fumble for it, if there is enough interest i will take some pics. it was a simple install just the ignition hot wire and a ground and wham a cool option with lots of stations. I opted for the pnp system because I wanted to be able to listen in the house too. So all i do is detach it and plug it into the home kit and its crystal clear @ home too, and the kick butt part is right now the home kit is free when u get the car kit (gee u would think i worked for em huh? :P) anyway im really happy with it since i didnt get the cd changer its got soo much variety. I did look at XM too but sirius had more music stations i care for w/o commercials and the deal sealer was OutQ, an alternative station which is way overdue. okay im steppin off my box now :P
since it seems to be so acrobatic on the slk, flippin forward and backward I was afraid id make a mess and end up screwin up either the hardtop or the trunk somehow or rippin the antenna apart or scrapin it down the lovely brilliant silver paint [:0]

I had the Audiovox Shuttle and found that it was just too big, didn't look right. Sirius was giving complete systems (Shuttle + car or home kit or the Kenwood PnP) for free a week or so ago as part of their friends and family deal if you commit to a year and I still didn't want it. They are coming out with a new version of the Audiovox Shuttle in the next week or so with an improved display and new features. The biggest problem I had was the 4 FM frequencies where in use in my area so the wireless transmitter was useless. I'm going to keep my Roady until Sirius comes up with a better solution.
As for the antenna, just make sure the wire is not in the way of the moving parts on the top. Tape it securely to the underside of the trunk lid. I have it on my rear shelf on my coupe/hatchback and it's constantly going up and down everytime I open the hatch and slam it closed and it's only held in with velcro. The magnets on these antennas are very strong, it won't come off or shift from the top mechanism lifting the trunk lid.
