Do the std facelift bumpers fit the pre-facelift SLK?

Hi all,

I have a pre-facelift SLK230. A crash means the front and rear bumpers (is that fenders in US English???) need replacing. Can the facelift bumpers be put on instead? Is it a straight swap? Anyone done it? I have headlamp washers.

Cheers,
SImon

There is a writeup at mbslk.de

The writeup is in German. I don't know what is involved, but it definitely can be done.

German

if you need help with the german translation you could try www.freetranslation.com

I will have a look at the site too, and have a go at translating some for you. Maybe Mik could have a go too, I think he speaks some Deutsch.

Lucky for me I'm having the bodyshop do it.....

Lucky for me I'm having the bodyshop do it. The bumpers need replacing as part of the repair job so I'm just getting them to put facelift components on instead.

Cheers for the translation url.

Yeah, I'll post piccies...... (more)

I won't be getting side skirts though. That has to wait as I can't afford them straight away. Someone did me a photo-chop w/o the skirts and it looked alright. Certainly didn't look stupid IMO.

Got the door handles painted a few months ago. Made a huge difference. I even got the round black plastic lock barrel cover painted too.

Here's some before and after pics for the door handles:
