Interesting stuff i found just for anyones information on the 722.6xx transmission used on the R170

the number on the trans W5A XXX indicates the maximum torque input (in nM) which the transmission can handle safely.

all the SLK230's (pre and post facelift) use the W5A 330
all the SLK320's use the W5A 330
all the SLK32's use the W5A 580

i know the new 7 speed boxes are pretty smart. the guys with pulley kits on the E55's make big power put the computer detects too much torque which can potential damage the trans so it bleeds the boost (look at some guys boost readings on dyno runs! looks like a jigsaw boost wont hold.....)!

the torque limit on the trans can be raised (via programming)... not sure how smart our 5speeds are but still. there you have it the "official" torque input for the 230s & 320's is 330nM. im sure most tunners developing tuning kits for these cars got more than that (i think up to 350nm?) and its been no dramas

Do you have any info about torque limits for the 6 speed manuals?
In other forum someone stated 320 and 230 facelift have the same gearbox.
