To change the "life time" A/T fluid or not?? Okay I was searching for Technical Service Bulletins to see if I could find one related to a problem a member (Jay - the wheel guy), is having. Did not find any, but I found this one which has made me change my mind about changing the "life time" A/T fluid.
Technical Service Bulletin S-27 032
"This bulletin serves as a guideline for determining whether to repair or replace an automatic transmission (type 722.6) based on residue found in the AT fluid. Figures 1 through 4 are examples of various levels of residue that might be found at the bottom of the AT fluid pan, and their limits of acceptability. A certain level of fine aluminum, or fine aluminum with brass, residue at the bottom of the fluid pan is normal and does not warrant AT replacement. Further diagnosis and repairs may be necessary in such cases. If unsure, consult your Regional Technical Coordinator."
The bulletin shows four pictures of the pan and they determine how bad it is to determine if they are going to replace the transmission??
