Problem with Radio Code - 1998 SLK230

Hi Guys:
About two weeks ago I got a 1998 SLK230 with 51,000 miles. It's in very good condition considering is a 12 year car. I simply love it!!!!
Two days ago I repleced the car batery and the radio asked for CODE. I entered the 5-digit code that appears in the gray-card on the glovebox. Then the radio says WAIT and nothing happends, just says WAIT. I tried to clear this WAIT condition by removing the batery terminals for 5 minutes, the radio still says WAIT. I tried to clear this WAIT condition by removing the two radio fuses (15A both) for 6 hours, the radio still says WAIT.
Can somebody help me on this?

From the owners manual,

Entering the code number
Switch on the radio.“CODE” will appear on the display.
Using the buttons on the alpha-numeric keypad, enter
the five digit code. Confirm by pressing the “OK” key.
If an incorrect code has been entered and confirmed,
“CODE” will reappear on the display. The correct code
must be entered once again.
If an incorrect code is entered
three times, “WAIT” will
appear on the display and the
radio will be locked out for
about 10minutes.
Note:
The lock out time will only count down if the radio is left
switched on.

go to a dealer and get the code, should be free
but you will need to show proof of ownership.

THANKS LEAPYFISH FOR THE REPLY!!!!

That's part of the problem, my Owners Manual doesn't say a word about the Radio (I don't know why). So I did the process by intuition. As a matter of fact, I looked in the car and my radio doesn't have a formal "OK" key. Unless it is another key and I do not know it. Do you know what is the "OK" key in order to confirm the code?

I think I was not able to confirm the code correctly and I entered the code 3 times. I will try to clear the "WAIT" condition by leaving the radio on for 10 minutes.

Again THANKS!!!!

It's the key right 'below' the word OK.

Bahama Blue ->Crystal Sides ->Continental DWS on Chrome Rims ->Centric Rotors(slot/drilled) & Pads(ceramic) ->S2000 Wind Screen.

LEAPYFISH, it worked like a charm!!!!

I waited 10 minutes with the radio on and the radio asked for the code. I entered the code and I found out the "OK" key is really the "SC" key in the radio (GALAXYS thanks for your help also) and now the radio is working.

THANKS LEAPYFISH!!!!

Radio Code

I have the code. I enter it and then hit the "OK" SC button. It goes back to code, I enter the 5 digits I have on the card that came with the car enter SC it goes to wait and on and on. Why would it not accept the code?? Any 1998 SLK 230 extra steps? I have the radio book and the instructions plan old do not produce an on.
