switched radio to a Sound30 - looking for manual ?

I just picked up an in-dash CD player for my SLK. It's a Sound 30. (Picture below). I do not have a manual for the radio and would really like to know how to use all the features. Does anyone have this radio and manual? I'd be very interested in getting the information from the manual - electronicly or by postal mail.

- Glen.

Since MB provides a manual for the radio...

Since MB provides a manual for the radio, your MB dealer should be able to get you one.

my dealer is looking into it

I stopped by my dealer this afternoon and he said he'd "look into it". The only catch may be that this particular radio was never installed in US cars. The radio came from Europe (via Canada).

I was able to figure out how to "code" the radio so it is working. I just don't know what all the functions are. Many of the buttons have multiple purposes and I can't quite figure some of them out.

Just curious...

Just curious, is there anything on the back of the radio that identifies the manufacturer of the radio? Sony, Becker etc., do know that some manufacturer's have operating manuals posted on web site.

unit originally came from a 1999 E430

I was told the radio was optional MB upgrade and this unit came from a 1999 E430. The next time I get a chance to pull the radio back out, I'll try to verify it is an original MB. It's a bit difficult for me to get the unit in/out only because I don't have the real tools.

As for how easy it was to install. It takes less than 5 minutes to swap the radio. That include putlling the old one, swapping all the plugs (everything matched one for one) and then sliding the new radio back in.

As noted, I don't have the operating instructions so it took me a couple of tries to figure out how to enter the security code. Fortunately I'm one of those twisted people that can figure out how to program a VCR without the manual :-)

Dealer called - cant get European radio manual

My dealer called today. He said, since the radio was a European part, and they cant order European parts to the USA, he can't even find out if there is a part number for the manual let along order one.

So, if anyone has this radio or has seen it in other cars, I'd be interested in getting some information from the manual or being able to ask a few questions about operating the radio.

Thanks.

Pulled Radio - It's a Becker BE4613

On the recomendation of "bgion", I finally got around to pulling the radio back out. It is manufactured by Becker and it's a BE4613.

I still have not found a radio manual and it does not seem that Becker has one posted on their website.

The search continues :-)

WOW - best of luck

This is great news. I really apreciate the effort. I hope you find some good news.

I have also sent an email to the service department of "Becker of North America" asing about the instruction manual. They have manuals for other radios posted on their website but not the BE4613. I have not heard anything back so I will keep my fingers crossed.
