Post Update. Problem fixed.

Just wanted to update on this issue.

It seemed that the charcoal canister (ventilation) was not the problem in my case.

The problem was with the FUEL FILLER TUBE CHECK VALVE shown as number 4 in the diagram that I have posted above. I got a wire and started pushing it in through the filler tube. At first it got stuck and after several tries it was able to go through and unstuck the valve.

So if it is impossible for you to fill your fuel tank this could be your problem. Impossible I mean when the fuel pump at the gas station keeps shutting of every two seconds even at the slowest gas flow from the fuel pump.

Thank you all for you suggestions and replies above.

I think it may be one of these because as soon as I try to put gas in the pump stops. If it was the charcoal canister shutoff valve than I would think that it may take a few seconds for the gas station pump to shut off at the beginning since the air can compress.

Any suggestions here?
Were you getting any error codes or was the check engine light coming on while all this was happening ?

slow filling gas tank

How far did you have to go in with the wire? I tried using a wire hanger to push through, but might not have gone far enough?

Thanks for your insight!!!

You will know when it first gets stuck. Once you unstuck it then the hanger could go all the way in, make sure you don't drop it in though.

The problem was the canister shut off valve. the white valve on top of the fuel canister. Checked the canister while i was there to see any fuel trapped inside. None found. Replaced the valve and all is well !
So for those who are trying to resolve this issue, two things should be checked. This valve, and the other is the MOT valve that sits in the hood. I replaced the one in the hood first, with no change, but it was the cheaper option.
