My "wheels" project is complete. Rims are painted and new tires mounted.
fronts: 225/45ZR-17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
rear: 255/40ZR-17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
Color: "Slate Gray Metallic" from Porsche
Much better tires than Michelin Pilot Spot
Great traction of the line, no wheel spin, very quiet ride (I used to think my diff was going bad, but nope - that was the noise from Michelin tires). 255 seats perfectly on 8.5" rear AMG rim. Running 34 Psi now.
The first time I drove off - I couldn't believe the car was moving - it was that quiet!
Cornering wise - Haven't had a chance to really try these.

I am also planning on putting 255's on the back end. I have the same AMG rims. I think the difference in tire height was 1.3% or something totally nominal when I researched it.
I am considering Yokahama tires, because I've had such good luck with them in the past. Any feedback?

I had good experience with Yokahamas as well. But there is 50$ rebate on Goodyear right now and I think Goodyear is a better tire than Yokohamas (not that Yokohamas bad, but Goodyear is better)
I am very happy with the package I got.
The only comments - is feedback from steering is somewhat muted (compared to Michelin Pilot Sport) , But i am running 34 psi all around and tires are still in manufacturing oils. I think if I'll increase pressure in front I will get the steering feedback to my liking.
If I had a change to trade these Goodyears on any other tire - I wouldn't do it.
