Cruise Control Stalk compatability

I have to replace my cruise control stalk/switch, so I ordered the part from a breakers yard.
When it arrived I noticed it differs from my current stalk as it has the Limit/Cruise "Speedtronic" push in function.
Will this part work firstly and if so, a) as a normal cruise control i.e 4 direction stalk or b)with the added Limit function.
Thanks

Don't know if it will work or not but it is probably from a later car (post face lift??) as I thought all UK cars had the speed limiter (yellow light appears on stalk when active) as standard. The cruise function works in the normal 4 way mode on the later stalks - suspect the push on the end just activates an additional; circuit - which may or may not be hidden in the electronics already.

Don't suppose anyone ever answered this elsewhere, did they? Mine lacks the Speedtronic lever, I'd like to fit it if I can.

The stalk from the later model worked fine but only gave me the original functionality. No speedtronic or speed limiter.

Great - thanks! I wasn't expecting a reply from such an old thread. So it'll fit, but there is more needed - and you've got a '98 UK-spec SLK too, so it's probably correct that my car lacks Speedtronic.
