I was out driving today and the car got into limp mode or something, scanned it and found the code P0341 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance
anyone have some DIY how to change this ? some pictures ?
The best is to test the engine online with a scanner to see what's going on.
My best guess: oil has leaked into the the sensor and disrupted proper signaling to the engine computer causing the limp mode. This is a common issue with the M111 - the variable intake camshaft likes to leak oil into everything as capillary forces draw the oil even along into distant cables. Remove the front plastic cover and check all plugs for oil. the camshaft sensor is the one sitting right on the camshaft cover (the gold-colored lid on the right). If there is oil try cleaning the contacts and see whether this remedies the issue. Mercedes provides updated oil protection cable for the facelift models not pre-facelift but former can be adapted for the facelift with some mods.

If its leaking its best to replace it, around $40 then clean both surface's, place a light coat of silicon sealant before replacing the cam shaft magnet. Very simple job, takes about 5 min.
Let's say there's oil leakage and it went into the cables all the way up to the engine computer: this could cause all kinds of electrical shorts and misreadings. So,if there oil on the camshaft senor plug, it might be good to check out the computer box (black box next to the battery) for oil as well. If there's oil in that area the bad news is that all cables and possibly the computer have to be replaced = $$$. If not, and oil is only at the senor level, still clean the latter and see whether CEL goes away. This may also cure the P0130 in case the misreading have caused rich fuel/air mixture and carbon build up on the O2/lambda sensor as it might clean itself once things are again ok on the front end.
However, this may also a problem by itself - again the error alone doesn't provide a diagnosis - the sensor could be fine but connectors or wires to and from aren't. A faulty O2 sensor read will rarely cause limb mode, though, and sensors are supposed to be good for about 100k miles before one should replace them.
So don't buy spare parts yet unless you or the mechanic have a good idea about the likely cause.
