don't buy a used modual if the airbags were deployed on the car (once the airbags on a car has been deployed, the modual goes bad)
hi again,

Facelift SLK R170 SRS module does not need to be coded before or after replace!

you are right if SRS module deployed airbag it store "hard" codes in its memory and MB dealer sell new unit instead of clear/erase "hard" codes from module (marketing politic).

you can find induvidual shops which can repair / erase codes / re program module between 30 - 100 /-GBP.

I bought second hand module which has exactly same part number (it comes from 2002 SLK32) and the seller promised that the car didnt involve at any accident.

I will disconnect negative wire from battery and replace faulty module with used one. Then I 'll visit MB shop and ask them to diagonise the car for error code.

I hope it will work.

thanx

hi all,

I received Airbag/SRS Control Module today. it has warning sticker on it which says

Attention Airbag!
Appliance contains data for the specific vehicle and must be coded before being operational. Removal and installation in other vehicles prohibited.

yes what you can do if you were in my place?

does "specific vehicle" phrase in paragraph above means R170 SLK ?

-what could be the code content?

-can it be vehicle VIN number which is uniuqe for each car?
by the way I dont thing that MB put uniuqe operation code for every other SLK apart from VIN number of vehicle which appliance (module) fitted !!!!

on Saturday I will replace SRS module (while negative wire disconnected from battery) and go to MB for diagonise check if module work or not.

any opinion appreciated?

cheers

Ali

If it was me I would just replace athe way you stated and see if the light operates normally. The circuit self diagnoses.

Put it in, see if the light goes out, if it does you're good to go.

hi,

I got time this afternoon and try to diagonise SRS problem by myself. I think that MB Kyrenia dealer had mistake while they told to me SRS Ecu is faulty (SRS Ecu does not initialize with diagonise PC) because I try several things which make me believe that SRS Ecu can be still in working condition even it is not initialize with diagonise PC!!!!

I try following things :

turn on switch :

-SRS light lid about 4 seconds and then off (according to the owners handbook it is for SRS lamp check) normal.

-Passenger Airbag Lamp lid and do not go off after lamp check which must be stop lid after 4 seconds or after turn on engine. this is not normal.

- when I disconnect 2nd fuse in the fuse box at engine bay
SRS light do not lid even for lamp check - normal

- when I disconnect 3rd fuse in the fuse box at engine bay SRS light do not goes off after 4 second lamp check (normal) but the "Passenger Airbag off" light at center console does not lid even for lamp check.(not normal)

I check cables under seats.
When I disconnect two wire (brown - brown with light green strip) socket under DRIVER seat SRS light on dash start lid.

tomorrow I 'll try Nicosia MB dealer which they used to told that the only problem is "Passenger Seat Airbag Sensor" is the only faulty part on SRS/Airbag system.

cheers

I read somewhere (either this forum or the W210 forum) that the wire from the sensor pad can wear through and cause a short. You can only see that once you remove the sensor pad.

hi all,

I went to Nicosia MB dealer without appointment and they identify what is the problem with my vehicle SRS system.

http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.asp...SGR=045&SGN=01

if you check this link you will see that "Passenger Seat Airbag Sensor" part # 1708202710

it is the only faulty thing and it is not SRS Ecu like Kyrenia MB dealer said.

I quoted 200 /-Euro + %16VAT at Nicosia MB dealer and part will be in their stock next month after order and complete payment !!!!

as soon as I left there, I went Kyrenia MB dealer and got quoted 133 /-Euro + %16VAT and part will be in their stock within 10 days . I ordered from this dealer.

I will wait for a part and get appointment form Nicosia MB dealer for installation. I dont know how much they will charge for labour.

any way at least I know that SRS system in my vehicle is in working condition now apart from passenger seat sensor.

cheers
