The thing that I always hated about lihn is that he continually bashed Mercedes, but owned them and kept buying them. I had some insight about the reason for this that I posted a long time ago, and won't rehash here, but it still made me tilt. Plus, he always acted like a 14 year old when he posted, however, you can't deny that the guy wasn't at the forefront of modding on the SLK. He did a lot of the original research, did stuff the backyard mechanic way, and helped others on here (including me).

He just got way too personal with several people, and burned many bridges. That is where you draw the line.

OK, my take coming from a brutal contestant of flame wars both here and other forums that I belong to. So, I voted no but I also wanted to attach a comment. A flame war by nature IS personal. That's the whole point, to make clear that you think that the other guy is a d**k! Some will agree and some will defend the guy.

I made some comments a while back and another member called me to the carpet over it. It didn't change what I think and he knows it, but I hope he went away knowing that it applied to those that fell into that catagory and not everyone. Do I really care? No, I made my point and so did he. I can respect that.

I suppose there has to be some level of decency but I tend to shy away from censorship in any form. I think that as a whole, our society has gotten too "politically correct" to the point where our local and federal gvnts are spending huge sums of money so "no one gets offended" ...what BS. If you can't take an insult or worse, think that everything IS an insult, go to the corner and cry like a baby. Come back when you have a set that clanks when you walk(I read that somewhere and liked it). For anyone her over fifty, you'll appreciate this. My son will turn 18 in a couple weeks...and he just got into his first fight! All because of the "no tolerance" issue. We're raising a county full of pu**ys and my guess is that in another 50 or so years, we'll be to afraid to fight and we'll surrender the country that our forefathers fought and died for.

Makes me happy that I'm not the Mod!

jeff

btw- Kyle told me he hit the guy so hard that he was afraid that he really hurt him when he went down and didn't move. Am I proud? Of course but in the same token I'm glad that he learned that it can be dangerous to fight too.

I personally don't care. That doesn't mean I want this board to degrade to the gutter either. Although my avatar may say otherwise, I've been reading, learning and trying to help people here since 2000. It's been great fun...even given the differences. Lets keep it on topic as much as possible.

As for Linh...I think you guys egg him on some times. He has tried to be helpful in the past, but you know he is going to take the bait. He's just as guilty.

If your really want to moderate the board...

Bruce why don't you start by cleaning up your political avatar. Has nothing to do with SLK's. Walk the talk!

My avatar is fine the way it is, nothing wrong with a photo of my SLK on the track.

If you are referring to my signature, two are quotes from prominent people from the past. I am a firearms activist and a defender of the Second Amendment; the quotes are either neutral, or only as political as you want them to be.
Sorry you don't like them, but they stay where they are until I decide to upgrade or change them.

The third quote is a truism that applies to a lot of situations, including some in the automotive category.

Someone makes a post and he has some shitty comment to make every time, No bait needed.

And bruce can keep his views, What diff does it make, Could be worse, He could have a big ass list of cars he no longer owns.

Im a tory who cares ? what diff does it make, Im me.

Now if bruce banged on in every post about it, that would be diff maybe.

And they are quotes, He may put them up because he thinks there funny or whatever, Just as I did not do the of the test of lemon drop to water thing in mine.

Someone else said it, I just thought it was interesting.

OK signiture...but your obviously defending them. So you are saying, that signatures are fare game to put your "quotes" others may disagree with and they are not moderated. Ummm....

Seems like a double standard to me, especially coming from the moderator.

Guess I'll have to put some "quotes" up that you may disagree with. See where this goes. ;-)

I'll just "quote" myself.

You may see it as a "double standard" but I do not.

There have been a few quotes and comments in the past by others, maybe even by you that were clearly in the political baiting category, but I have left it alone and not made any sort of comment.
I have to wonder why it is that just because I happen to be a Moderator here I have to work by different rules just to satisfy a limited few individuals, that to me would be a true “double standard” don’t you think?

Now if you want to quote certain people fine, go with that, on the other hand if you wish to make an inflammatory statement and quote that as from yourself, you are on a fine line in the “Terms of Use” of this site. This would be something that I could take to administration and get a decision on. I wouldn’t take it on my own to take action, but should I feel it is warranted, I could take it to higher authorities and let them decide.

I picked those comments from Theodore Roosevelt and Samuel Adams because I thought they made the point without being offensive, obviously you can't please all of the people all of the time.

Again...defensive. Hard to justify isn't it? You want the discussion to be about SLK's yet you yourself also are affirming your rights as you see it under the 2nd amendment. Well I agree with your right, but then again it has nothing to do about SLK's. You started this flame war thread and you asked for a thoughtful discussion, but you yourself have road blocks that aren't up for discussion. Then you threaten to go tell mommy and daddy. LOL!!!

Talk about BIG Brother!

So only "certain" people can be quoted. Is that in the Terms of Use?
