my car is a 16 mar 01 slk320, just look up figures and it looks like its going to cost me £415 a year,Road tax - Parker's
also with the silly fuel prices and low MPG it doesnt seen worth keeping the car if the car was 3 weeks younger it would be £180 ayear to tax

yes your right your tax is going up from £210 to £415 for next year and then up tp £430 the year after.
a complete rip off and there is nothing you can do about it .
when i bought my 1999 230 a few months ago i noticed that 2001 models were looking cheaper than the older models and this is the reason why , so i made sure i bought an older one
second hand values on post march 2001 cars is going to crash , i thought the govenment wanted to get rid of old cars off the road not new ones .
its getting crazy its gonna get to a point when your paying £1000 a year in tax, insurance and mot , a year before you even drive it anywhere .
Some people will say the usual things like if you can afford the car then you can afford the tax , this is not the point , why should we pay extra , car tax is ment to be for the roads not for the fat cats pocket.
keep it...don't drive it for a year...viola! cheaper!
