My reverse light won't stay unless I hold the shift knob. Bazz your awsome m8! Now I know how to remove it without breaking something. I'm going to try this later and let you know if thats the problem on mine..
I've been trying to get the automatic gear gate off for ages, those series of pics helped me out! Perfect
I have the wood finish and one piece had curled up in the heat, so now I've got it out I can glue and clamp it properly.
One warning - dont attempt this unless you are mechanically minded....
especially if the whole linkage arrangement inside the box - springs apart on you and you have to methodically work it out and try and try again to get it all back together right.....
You want that stick to feel exactly the way it was before you took it out/apart - with a reversing light this time....
Anyway couple of extra pics - I built the worn cam lobe up with epoxy as well.
I'm guessing the SLK32 2002-2004 with the electronic box has a totally different config to a 1999 PF SLK230 - can anyone confirm?
I'm using my SLK230 for practice body/accessory work (dash/gear shift etc...) before I think about hacking into the SLK32.
Thanks to Bazzle and others for taking the time to post this fix. I just completed the procedure and thought I would add a couple of pics that should help someone in the future. Take your time and enjoy the journey :devil
Similar Area - but different problem - sorry to hijack....
Has anyone had a failing +/- on the PF (>2000) electronic boxes where the +/- gets to be a little hair trigger (more so on the plus(+) than the minus(-))?
I'm thinking I will need to pull the selector apart as we had to with the this reversing light issue and see if I can massage it back the other way.
???
eg: I have to push a full left to register a minus(-) as would be normal, but it only takes the slightest whisker of a touch to register a plus(+).
I think its getting worse and may possibly prevent me from going minus(-) 'cause sometimes lately, as soon as it flicks back from a left push minus(-) it can sometimes click itself back a plus(+) and end up back at the same gear.
Great post thank you, I fixed my reverse lights by adding a drop of soldering on the pin below.
