Steve, I thought about calling this 2008-2020 projects but with the pattern my last 2 posts have taken, I'll still be working on it in 2021 and be kicking myself for not calling the post something like "rasoul's projects"
So here's the latest of the ECU install. I mounted it right below the glove box. It's accessible enough to plug into the serial port whenever I need to, and it's tucked in just enough where it can't be seen when sitting down (I couldn't put it in the location that makes the most sense, the passenger footwell, because I have a subwoofer there and didn't want the ECU to get any unnecessary vibrations). I poked the harness through a rubber boot on the factory ECU housing, so I can do all my wiring in the factory location. I'm putting my EDIS in there too. And I've run a copper tube to my Y-pipe to go to my ECU, which has an integrated 4-bar map sensor with barometric correction. I figure the copper tube will be more accurate and withstand higher pressures than the nylon tube I ran to my boost gauge.
Injectors will be here Tuesday! Lets see if I can get the rest of the car ready by then...
And just for some FYI, here's some info about our fuel system. The part I needed to know regarding custom injectors was how much pressure was going through our regulator. Normal operating range is 3.7 to 4.1 bar. 60psi! That's a damn good stock FPR! This thing can handle pretty much whatever you throw at it, fuel-wise. Just upgrade those injectors.
The fuel pump could also be part of the problem. SLK32's in Europe that had their max speed raised to 280 kph by AMG also had their fuel pump replaced. I'm sure they did that because the car was running lean at high RPMs. Short bursts of lean are not ideal but they probably just let the ECU handle it but Autobahn cruising at a sustained high rpm range would mean the car was running lean for an extended period of time.
Another explanation for the replacement of the fuel pump has to do with a drop in efficiency due to extended operating periods at peak pump tempratures.
Pumps are rated at specific flow rates at a given pressure. Larger fuel injectors will flow more fuel and reduce the pressure at which the pump has to operate.
Of course the pump has a maximum flow rate and if we are pretty much there with the HP levels some of the modified cars are running...
I am actually getting sexually excited seeing those attachements and the whole damm thing. Finally someone who is doing what needs to be done in our Quest. Injectors. And since I plan on using the same injector vendor as Rasoul I will know how it turns out for our big bro here. Qudo's and please take more photos to share with the class. You want to be careful how you run the copper tubing, if it flexes much, it WILL work harden and crack. Ther are nylon and other plastic tubes that will take 140 psi and the temperatures involved with no problem, you might want to look a bit further into the availability of them at Wick's Aircraft and Aircraft Spruce........

The bigger Fuel-Pump is from the German company PIERBURG Part-Nr. 7.00228.51.0. According to Pierburg its the same which is used in the SL55. AMG Part-Nr. is A0014704794, Mercedes-Part.Nr. 014706594 should be the same one.
Hey all, I've been away for a good few days now. Thanks for the excellent input everyone. Now to answer some questions.
I got my injectors back but it didn't have any info on the stock injectors, only the resized ones. Jeremy, I got your e-mail, and I'll answer that here as well.
The stock injectors were flow tested between 430cc and 440cc, but they were tested at 3bar (found this out today, just got off the phone) (there was an odd injector that flow tested at 410cc, which was fixed with an ultrasonic cleaning). It seems there's about a 16% difference between 3bar flow and 4bar flow, which is what our cars should flow, which puts our stock injectors right at 500cc.
I might be able to get the scan up in the next few days, but I know I'll be busy. But in a nutshell, I upgraded them to 620cc injectors measured at 3bar, which would be about 720cc at 4bar. This makes it over a 40% increase over the stock injectors. According to this sheet, it appears as if I can upgrade my pump and FPR and set it as high as 5.4bar (80psi) and get 847cc/min out of these injectors. So if I find that I need more fuel, that will be the next upgrade, but I have a feeling they'll handle whatever power I want to put through it at 4bar.
