FFP: Top up while parked or top down, after driving with the top down?

I always put the top up if I leave my car parked. A valuable lesson from my Miata days.

Almost always top up, until the top started malfunctioning recently .. (more)

The top refuses to go up sometimes after I drive
around. After I leave it overnight in the garage,
I can close the top again the next morning.
Did anyone else have this problem?

Always top up. Why take a chance on birds, thrown cigarettes, or purposeful mischief.

Take the car in for service.

I had the top on my 99 SLK malfunction after driving around. I was told that the problem might be with a sensor because the hydraulic fuild expands in the heat. I'm not sure if this is the case, but they replaced a faulty microswitch and it works like a champ.

Top up unless I can see the car from where I am sitting/eating. There are too many stupid or jealous people to leave it parked for too long without the watchful eye of ME.

Usually down, unless I am parking for extended period, or if there are dark clouds in sky
